Koh Chang is the 2nd biggest of Thailands (after Phuket) island. The islands name (Isle of elephants) refers to its profile shape that looks like a family of elephants. Ko Chang used to be a refuge for Backpackers but in recent years it turned into an international emerging tourist destination. Almost all of the numerous accommodations can be found on the beaches on the western coast and offer a style to suit every budget from low to luxury. 80 percent of the island is National park and offers a beautiful untouched scenery and wildlife. Jungle tours and other activities, such as boat trips to nearby snorkeling spots are being organized from almost anywhere on the island. If you are looking for a more calm atmosphere head down towards the southern and eastern coast.
